Baptism or Christening

We would be delighted to welcome you and your family to celebrate the Baptism or Christening of a new child or family member.

A Christening is when people who want to follow in the steps of Jesus Christ are welcomed into the life of the church.

​

For children, it is customary to have three Godparents (usually two of the same gender of the child and one of the opposite gender).  They should have already been baptised themselves and feel able to make promises about the Christian faith - which they do on behalf of the child being Christened.  It's also worth noting - there is no fee for a Service of Baptism - it is a free gift from us.

Christenings can take place either within a main church service on a Sunday or in the afternoon, or on another day - whatever is mutually convenient to you and the Rector!
