The Arnhem Service
The Arnhem Service
RAF Down Ampney was located in the village of Down Ampney during the Second World War. It played an important role in a number of military campaigns including 'Operation Market Garden' and the Battle of Arnhem.

Each year, there is a special Service when we remember those who few from RAF Down Ampney and commemorate those who gave their young lives in the services of their country. This Service is held at 11am on the second Sunday of September each year. In 2024, the Service will be held on Sunday 8th September; and The Chaplain-in-Chief of the Royal Air Force will be preaching.

In past years, this Service has been well attended by veterans who had themselves served at RAF Down Ampney and who had fond and special memories of their service and friends they had lost in battle.

It is our privilege to now hold that torch on their behalf and this poignant annual service continues.

Please do join us if you can.
For the Fallen
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun,
and in the morning,
we will remember them.
We will remember them.
