Harnhill Church Congregation.jpg

Welcome to the Ampney Churches website.  We are a group of people who come together to worship God; follow the example of Jesus; seek to serve our communities; meet local needs; and enjoy each other's company in different ways.  We gather each Sunday in one of our seven local historic church buildings.  You would be very welcome to join us.

The Team

Lots of people contribute to the life and work of our church communities, for which we are very grateful.

Some key people are the Churchwardens who help to care for the life and fabric of our churches - they are:

  Rosie Arkwright - Poulton

  Simon Collyer-Bristow - Poulton

Chris Copley  - Ampney St Peter & St Mary

Michael Eliot - Ampney St Peter & St Mary

  John Fullick - Ampney Crucis

James Lockhart - Driffield & Harnhill

  George Newman - Down Ampney

Sue Philips - Driffield & Harnhill

  Adrienne Stokes - Down Ampney

  Eleanor Toby - Ampney Crucis

Our church buildings are open every day of the year from 10am until about 4pm

News at Ampney Crucis Church

In 2023, we are seeking to make permanent the arrangements at the back of Ampney Crucis Church - where we have temporarily removed six bench pews so we can have a more flexible space in which to have Baptisms with the congregation around the Font; are able to serve refreshments and have circulation space.  By keeping the other six bench pews and using some light weight moveable chairs, we are not losing any seating capacity when we need it for large congregations.  We propose to sell the six bench pews, which have been in storage for the last five years.  Public Notices have been put up at Ampney Crucis Church; and if anyone wants to formally object to the proposals, they may do so by writing to: The Diocesan Registrar, Narrow Quay House, Narrow Quay, Bristol, BS1 4QA by 5th February 2023.
